Miniature Painting,  Old Hammer

Iron Warriors Oldhammer Project – Lots of Images

This is all old stuff. I started to play tabeltop with Battletech in the early 90’s. When I came across the first Warhammer 40K edition – Rogue Trader, I was all in. The first four miniatures I had bought where 4 Eldar Fire Dragons, which I painted like my first Battletech miniatures with Revell enamel paint from my other hobby – plastic airplane kits. Though started with Eldar it went Space Marines and then Imperial Army next. With Chaos Space Marines being the last games I played somewhere in the early 2000s, pausing my Warhammer 40K hobby with end of the 3rd edition. It was not until in 2021, when I picked up the miniature painting hobby again. I have not played a single game since I left the hobby in around 2001. Just painting miniatures and evolving my skill.

Horus Heresy 2nd edition “Age of Darkness” box was next to come, and then it all began again: Grey Knights, Crimson Fists, Chaos Kill Team, Blood Bowl Undead, Kill Team “Into the Dark” (which is still mint in box), Warhammer Underworld “Nightvault”. Then nostalgia hit me hard. I went upstairs into the attic, searching for my old miniatures I had left behind. They where mostly painted in midnight clad and some looked ok, even with my refined painting skills today. This was the moment though, I decided to re-do them all. To start a new #oldhammer40k Iron Warriors warband. Starting from what I still had in my collection, but also taking some shots at ebay on the old metal miniatures. Mostly terminators, was what I was going for, as 2nd edition would allow me to field them as standard troops.

Below you is my growing collection. Hope you enjoy the old #eavymetal miniatures like I do. They still have a lot of charm and remind me of long evenings of measuring, dice rolling and debate.
