Miniature Painting,  Sons of Horus

Venerable Krator Battle Tank

As I saw this tank being announced by Games Workshop, I was all in for it. Being visually close to the Glaive/Fellblade, which is still the tank I love to own, and also reasonably affordable, it was an instant buy for me. Looking through Google image search on how other painter have done their Kratos tank Sons of Horus scheme, I decided to stick with what I had seen being done for a Fellblade. Body sea-green, turret all black.

First I did the model like I usually do all my models – looking like a GW boxart, fresh from the manufactorium. However for the Kratos tank I got inspired by other tank models being more dirty, used, grimdark – battle worn. The idea of the venerable Kratos tank sparked and I began to apply small damage spots to the still clean looking paint job. I added silver for newer damage and rusted parts for an old and worn look. The tank turret and front body weaponry is magentized – I can change between the main turret weapons and the frontal body sponsons. The side sponsons I have fixed as lascannons – to make sure the tank has at least some more heavy punsh coming along, if the main armament is more anti-infantry focused.

I gave the tank a commander, scanning the battlefield out of the turret. The miniature that came with the kit was looking too cool not to use and it gives the tank the aura of being the master of the battlefield for my Sons of Horus force.

I hope you enjoy my version of the Kratos tank. Let me know in the comments, or feel free to ask me any questions on the build/paintjob.
