Chaos Terminator Reborn

Changing colors. The more I digged into the Horus Heresy and Warhammer 30k miniature wargaming, the more the Iron Warriors paint scheme grew on me. I had played chaos space marines, when I started the hobby and I had painted them in midnight clad. The Iron Warrior pictures from the old codex did not really appeal to me and I found their scheme being mainly metallic and the distinctive yellow-black stripes more on the boring side.

Now, nearly 30 years later, I decided to repaint my old metal miniatures and I choose the Iron Warriors paint scheme, much the opposite of what I liked 30 years ago. It had grown on my, seeing all those new models from Horus Heresy or Legionis Imperialis with the yellow and black stripes on them. So the old Nightlord terminator took his last bath, to be reborn as Iron Warrior. Iron within – Iron without!

Put some paint on each peg and set it on a new round terminator sized base. Where the paint left it´s marks, I drilled two holes for the pegs to fit in, and glued the body to the base. Next, I glued the spikes and the head on, using super glue. I base coated the model with Abaddon Black and then added the base layer of Valejo Gunmetal with my airbrush. I left the arms separate to get better access to the body and painted them separately. The base will be left black, until I have an idea, what the army will look like and then do them all same time for consistency.

And here is the final model:
